Cold storage is generally the preferred method of long-term storage for onions. However, freezing onions makes a convenient and nutritional addition to your extra stores.

How to Freeze Onions
1. Peel off outside layer of onion.
2. Dice (or slice) onion.
3. Place onion pieces in freezer bags, using plastic wrap between layers of onions.
4. Remove air from the bags, and seal. Label with name of contents and date.
Note: small onions can be frozen just as is (skin and all).
The suggested maximum time for freezing onions (for best flavor and quality) is 3 months.
Suggestions: Use onions as you would raw, as seasoning for other dishes.
