How to Freeze Squash
Instructions for Freezing Winter Squash

Learning how to freeze squash from the garden is:

Cold storage is the common method of long term storage for winter squash. However, for those that don't have a cellar, or that would like a backup storage method, freezing squash is a good option.

Step by Step Instructions
How to Freeze Squash

1. Wash, halve and seed squash.
2. Slice into 1" cubes.
3. Cover squash cubes with salted water and boil until nearly tender.
4. Mash squash, and allow to cool. 
5. Pack squash in freezer bags, remove air, and seal. Label and date.

The maximum suggested time for freezing squash (for best flavor and quality) is 3 months.

Suggestions: Use squash in bakery, or as a side dish (similar to mashed potatoes).
